Acer introduces Windows 7 OS into its Tablet domain with the Iconia W500, which is a sleek Tablet for both, leisure and productivity on the move. This touch-based Tablet is a device that clubs the essentials of a tablet and practicality of a netbook.

The Iconia W500 has an AMD C-50 CPU and is powered by a Dual Core processor running at 1 GHz. The Tablet also has a RADEON HD 6250 GPU and 2 GB of DDR3 RAM, giving you a PC like experience in a smaller form factor. The Iconia W500 is inundated with games, including the popular ones like Half Life 2 and Diablo.

The Acer Iconia W500 sports an HD CrystalBrite 10.1 inch LCD with a 1280 x 800 resolution. The high resolution Active Matrix TFT Colour LCD screen also has 4-finger multi-touch. The Tablet includes its own application, the Acer Ring, to access your media, and supports full HD video playback. This Acer Tablet comes with a separate keyboard dock. A standard webcam of 1.3 megapixels is loaded above the screen of the Iconia W500.

Design

Acer has designed the Iconia W500 in an easily portable form factor. The 970 g weighing Acer Tablet has dimensions of 190 x 275 x 19.5 mm. The ambient light sensor present in the Tablet is responsible for auto-adjusting the brightness of the 10.1-inch screen.

Other sensors loaded into the tablet device include accelerometer, gyroscope and digital compass. The latter, along with GPS, helps you navigate your way to any destination.

Storage and Memory

The Acer Iconia W500 uses a standard 3260 mAh capacity Li-Po battery, which once fully charged, lets you gounplugged for up to 6 hours. It charges via an AC adapter. The Tablet comes with 32 GB of internal storage space.

Connectivity and Features

Wi-Fi support is integrated into the main unit and wired Ethernet comes from the docking station. Other connectivity options include a micro HDMI port, a micro USB port, a charger connector and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

The Iconia W500 is also integrated with version 3 Bluetooth for connectivity. The Iconia W500 has a memory card reader that supports MultiMediaCard (MMC) and the Secure Digital (SD) Card.
